One person is dead and four were injured after a lightning strike inside a park in Poughkeepsie Friday afternoon.

The strike occurred two days after a man and woman were found dead in a western NY cemetery where they were struck by lightning.

Police said two other, less gravely injured people were taken to another hospital; a hospital spokeswoman didn't immediately return a call Saturday about their conditions.

But such deaths, overall, are rare. The charge from the lightning conducted through the ground and struck them, he said. Florida has seen more lightning fatalities - six - than any other state this year.
