Pogba joined Juventus at the age of 19, but has enjoyed four Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia, two Italian Super Cup and appearances in the Champions League and Euro 2016 finals since he last turned out for United.

According to ESPN FC, Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, only found of the 23-year-old Frenchman's ban only days before the beginning of the Premier League. So, today we take a look at most expensive buy-backs in the history of football.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes that Paul Pogba would turn out to be a cheap signing for the Red Devils in the long run should he reach his potential.

The Swede arrived at Old Trafford earlier this summer, and has since seen the club splash out £89m on the former Juventus midfielder to significantly strengthen the squad.

"I think Pogba will make Manchester United a real force again".

Looking towards Arsenal's challenging opening fixture against Liverpool on Sunday Wenger said the sport "has to be a bit bigger" than a cycle of spending and sacking, before going on to predict the imminent arrival of the first £200m player.

"We were not laughing for any other reason than we were just in total disbelief that this player with so much obvious ability was able to leave a club the size of Manchester United for free - and I think Juventus are still laughing".

"Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney spring to mind, and they are getting back to that blueprint with Pogba".

"That's just how Ferdinand and Rooney are considered. But if Pogba gets anywhere near those levels - those of Robson and Keane - in five or six years' time, he will be looked upon as cheap".

"For £89m, Pogba will be expected to win big games", the eight-time Premier League victor added. "He has to grab those games by the scruff of the neck, because at Manchester United you have to win your team big matches".
