Trinidad board to probe India Test washout

Prospects of uninterrupted play for the remainder of the match look grim with a forecast of more isolated showers over the next four days

Pakistan supplanted arch-rival India to become the world's No. 1 Test side on Monday after India's final Test against the West Indies ended in a rain-hit draw at Port of Spain.

India won the four Test series 2-0.

The abandoning of the final match of the India-West Indies series has led to wide criticism for the failure of TTCB to ensure proper infrastructure at the venue to deal with inclement weather conditions.

While praising Ashwin and Saha, Kohli said that the duo emerged as the biggest positives in the four-match Test series against the Caribbean side.

"Number-one ranking is a reward for something we had planned as a group a few years ago and have worked extremely hard to achieve it".

"Not necessarily one where I expected two hundreds but I knew batting contributions would be very important". They have put me in a situation where I could get a hundred.

When asked about the changes in the playing XI for this match, and the changed batting-order, Ashwin said, "There was clear communication that they wanted to play seven batsmen in terms of trying to see how the combination would go". Unfortunately we couldn't get game time.

"But as a team we think we can assess ourselves at the end of this season, not one Test at a time", Kohli said, reported IANS. It is a very short-term incentive because we understand that the points' table is very close. "So, those were the areas for us to solidify", Kohli said.

In an exclusive interview with, Miandad expressed his happiness at the news of Pakistan's elevation to the No. 1 position in Test cricket, stating, "I am happy and proud for our nation and the team for reaching this significant milestone". It's the biggest quality of this team -- that if someone else is taking wickets, the other bowler will bowl in one area.

Our team has developed this attitude, and we will have to keep working on the same thing as we go forward if we are to become the strongest team in the world.

"If we drift from this plan, and drift into our individual preparations, then the plan gets disturbed".

Their reports have been provided to the CSA and the WICB, which have a fortnight to respond and could each be fined up to US$15,000 in accordance with Clause 4 of the ICC Pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process.
