Marcus Mariota carted off field vs. Jaguars with leg injury
Dec 25 2016
Whatever playoff chances the Tennessee Titans may have had went crumbling to the ground alongside Marcus Mariota as they fell to a bad Jacksonville Jaguars team.
Mariota was sacked by Jaguars defensive lineman Sheldon Day before going down with the injury, and the team immediately ruled him out from returning. Trainers rushed to his side, put on the air cast and lifted Mariota onto a cart.
Mariota completed just 8 of 20 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown before the injury. All that matters is they saw what they thought they would see from their quarterback on a regular basis.
Furthermore, Jacksonville Jaguars only have two more games left in the 2016 season. The former Central Florida star threw for 325 yards and a touchdown without an interception. Defensively, Jacksonville is allowing 25.6 points and 321.4 yards per game. They 38-17 drubbing of the Tennessee Titans broke a nine-game losing streak and made a victor of interim coach Doug Marrone in his first outing. That was the third time this season the Jaguars have held a double-digit lead, having done so against Indianapolis in Week 4 and against Houston last week. He had a 3-yard scoring pass to Rishard Matthews in the second quarter, but he spent much of the day hurried and throwing high and low.
The Jaguars had both running backs T.J. Yeldon (ankle) and Chris Ivory (hamstring) leave the game with injuries. Bortles completed eight of eight passes for 77 yards on the 75-yard drive.
