Email threat forces Jewish Community Center to be shut down

The scene outside a JCC after receiving a bomb threat

"Like all New Yorkers, I am profoundly disturbed and disgusted by the continued threats against the Jewish community in New York", Cuomo said in a statement Sunday.

The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCC) was evacuated for the second time in less than a week following a bomb threat on Sunday morning.

"This has been going on for a few months and JCC, and other Jewish institutions, have received multiple bomb threats".

This is just one of many recent threats to the Jewish community worldwide. Museums, houses of worship, advocacy groups and cemeteries have been targets of bomb threats and vandalism.

The incident marks the second time the JCC has been targeted by threats this week.

More than a dozen Jewish community centers have received similar threats across the US recently.

Police say about 300 people were inside the Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester when the emailed threat was received.

The threats are under investigation by Vancouver Police who had already increased patrols of the area over the last week.
