Now she's back with her first new music in three years, the single 'Green Light'.

"For me it's been a couple years since I've put anything out and really at least a couple years that I just dropped off the radar".

Speaking about the meaning behind the track, which will feature on her upcoming sophomore album "Melodrama", she told Zane Lowe on his Apple Beats 1 Radio show the song was about heartbreak - a subject that she said took her a while to figure out how to write. In just a few days the song has gathered major praise from the likes of Diplo, Taylor Swift, Paramore, Katy Perry, and more.

It's been almost four years since Lorde released her critically acclaimed debut album, "Pure Heroine", and since the project's release, the 20-year-old New Zealand native has kept a low profile.

Lorde's new song was the source of excitement for her fans, but not only.

It has been a minute since we last heard from Lorde, but today that all changes. That's her tonight and tomorrow she starts to rebuild.

"And the song is really about those moments kind of immediately after your life changes and about all the silly little things that you gravitate towards", she adds. I say, 'She thinks you love the beach, you're such a liar.' What the fuck, she thinks you like the beach?!

Either way, I'm looking forward to hearing Lorde sing her heart out on "Green Light" live from NY on Saturday night - and whether or not it comes with another new song. Who am I when I'm doing things just for myself?

Johansson will host the March 11 episode as she promotes her new film Ghost in the Shell, while Lorde has made a big comeback in the past week. "The green light thing is saying "I'm not okay right now but I'm going to be okay".
