Brighton & Hove Albion Clinch Automatic Promotion to the Premier League

It's tough to survive as a new addition in the Premier League.

Houghton took over the reins of Brighton in December 2014, resurrecting his team from relegation fears with a Houdini-like escape.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live after the match, manager Chris Hughton hailed his side's determination to make amends for last season.

"It's a wonderful achievement and there's so many people that I'm absolutely delighted for, certainly the chairman", said Hughton.

It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows in the coastal city of East Sussex.

It was all in marked contrast to Newcastle's display in a 1-1 draw at home to Leeds on Friday, a match they dominated until Chris Wood's last-gasp equaliser in stoppage time.

"We were this close to going out of the Football League".

Anthony Knockaert forced Haugaard into a superb fingertip save minutes after the restart and then had a hand in Brighton's all important second goal.

Brighton's current record transfer is Shane Duffy, who signed for around £4 million from Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window.

Despite the result, Brighton's former owners went ahead with the sale of their old Goldstone Ground, leaving the club to share Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium for two seasons. "I knew we had a group of lads that were capable of doing it (getting promoted), but being capable of doing it and actually doing it are two different things". "They are all very offensive players". We knew what we'd achieved past year and we recruited well - not many, but we started the season with a better team and squad.

It's a remarkable turnaround for a club that was 30-minutes away from falling out of the bottom of the English Football League system in 1997.

But sometimes, you just have to wait for that moment of pure joy and today, Brighton seemed to get it.

This season, Brighton are top of The Championship, and look set to win the Football League title. The following year he was sacked following a 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion FC. With a capacity of around 31,000, Brighton have consistently ranked amongst the highest attendances outside the Premier League for a number of years. Brighton are now in for a bumper payday, with promotion to the Premier League worth an estimated £170m.

"You have got to be clever and recruit really well whilst maintaining the togetherness and spirit of the previous squad".

"We are working to get back in the black which would be for the first time in our history and give some money back to the owner".

You expect to see Tony Bloom in the partypoker Premier League.
