Dolph Lundgren Has Joined The Cast Of Aquaman

Dolph Lundgren lands villainous role in 'Aquaman'

Are you looking forward to Lundgren's role in the DC Extended Universe flick?

James Wan, director of Fast & Furious 7 and The Conjuring, is directing the Aquaman movie with Batman v Superman's Zack Snyder serving as an executive producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lundgren's character will set his sights on killing Jason Momoa's Aquaman. THR reports that the action star is set to play the role of King Nereus in Aquaman. In the comics, they were supposed to get married but then Mera's father sends her on a mission to assassinate Arthur Curry (also known as the star of this film).

The plot will follow the story of King Nereus and his attempt to woo Mera, as well as his plans to kill Aquaman.

Jason Momoa is starring as the title character, and the film's call sheet includes Amber Heard as Mera, Aquaman's royal love interest; Nicole Kidman as Aquaman's mother; and Patrick Wilson as Orm, a villain who happens to be Aquaman's half-brother. No offence to Lundgren, but it's supremely unlikely that he's going to have as much screen-time as either Wilson or Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

Lundgren made his acting debut in the James Bond film A View to Kill, but it's his turn as the herculean antagonist Drago in Rocky IV that cemented his pop culture status.

It's scheduled to hit cinemas on December 21, 2018. Like Brolin, Lundgren has held numerous superhero roles ranging from playing Marvel's first-live action Punisher in a 1989 film, and recently playing Konstantin Kovar in the CW's Arrow. But his appearances in Sylvester Stallone's Expendables franchise has raised his profile in Hollywood once again.
