The relationship Seahawks general manager John Schneider has from previously working with Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie may indeed pay off for Marshawn Lynch.
While Werder did not specifically say the two could be traded together as a package, pairing the two could bring about a better deal for the Seahawks.
In addition to the Raiders, Lynch has also been linked to the New England Patriots. The Seahawks are pressing forward with contract negotiations to avoid such a cap disaster and confirm the trade. Then he will be traded or released, according to the report.
- Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 13, 2017Marshawn Lynch had permission from SEA to talk to #Raiders. "Marshawn is trying to figure things out, the Raiders are trying to figure things out". The Raiders would want to lower that price tag on the soon-to-be 31-year-old running back.
That - Lynch's attitude - is part of the reason the Raiders have gone hard after the retired player rather than free agents like Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles. The contract includes a 9-million dollar salary cap hit if he plays in 2017. But in 2015 he was limited to seven regular-season games and 417 yards and the postseason loss to the Panthers, largely because of an abdominal injury that required surgery.
A few weeks ago rumors surfaced that Marshawn Lynch could be returning to football.
However, when Beast Mode was healthy, he led the Seahawks with at least 1,200 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in four consecutive seasons (2010-14).
Lynch did not play during the 2016 season and now remains on the reserved retirement list.
