The BCCI has chose to invite more applications for the post of Indian team's coach to give the CAC a wide range of options for picking the suitable candidate who will be appointed before the tour of Sri Lanka next month.

Kumble resigned from the post of head coach after India suffered an 180-run defeat against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final.

Earlier on June 22, Virat Kohli deleted his year-old tweet welcoming Anil Kumble's appointment as the national cricket team coach, further exposing the bitterness that had crept in.

The BCCI is now seeking the assistance of the Cricket Advisory Committee in its search for a new head coach for the Senior India Men's Cricket Team.

Kohli was more cautious in dealing with the query than he was while dealing with Mohammad Amir in the Champions Trophy final. The other option is to try out young Rishabh Pant, who has had the experience of opening for Delhi in domestic cricket.Pant is an explosive player and can make good use of the first Powerplay when only two fielders are outside the 30-yard circle. All the years he has played, there is no taking away from that aspect of him at all. "We have to focus on our game and leave India to deal with their own problems", said West Indies captain Jason Holder when questioned about the circumstances of Kumble's departure.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting president C.K. Khanna on Wednesday said that the new coach for the Indian cricket team, whose tenure will be fixed at least till 2019 World Cup, will be announced before the Sri Lankan tour. The Indian team will be without a coach in the tour to the West Indies, where they play five ODIs and one-off T20 match starting at Port of Spain later today. His point of view is out there and we respect that. We have created a culture over the last 3-4 years that whatever happens in the change room, we have tried to maintain the sanctity of the change room throughout.

According to India Express, A BCCI spokesperson revealed that CAC will not consult the team or captain while selecting the next coach.
