Huge, homely mastiff named Martha wins world's ugliest dog

This year, Neapolitan Mastiff Martha, owned by Shirley Zindler, won the honor, by being not only ugly, but also by being big and ungainly and having a personality that made her have the biggest impression on the judges, paws down. 125 pounds. and a freshly minted superstar?

The Sonoma-Marin Fair's website proudly states that the World's Ugliest Dog competition has done a lot to promote the "adoption of dogs".

This year's victor, Martha, is owned by Shirley Zindler.

This years victor for "World's Ugliest Dog" has been announced! Instead of showing off, she was seen casually laying down on her side with her droopy face spread across the ground. Martha won a cash prize of USD1, 500, a shiny trophy and a trip to NY for media appearances but a look at the victor and you would instantly realize she can not care less.

The three-year-old Neapolitan Mastiff charmed the judges with her layers upon layers of wrinkles.

A 16-year-old Brussels Griffon-pug mix was runner up in the competition.

He had lost his hearing and sight but his sense of smell is strong and he was enjoying all the smells at the Sonoma-Marin Fair where the contest is held, including funnel cakes and other fried goodies.

According to her handler, 3-year-old Martha is a "drooling, snoring, gassy, loud and silly girl". Coming in third place was a Chinese Crested-Harke mix, Chase, 14.

Numerous contestants were adopted.

Even though they were in a competition for their imperfections, their owners saw nothing but beauty.
