Trump under investigation for possible obstruction of justice

The tweet came around 9:10 a.m. Friday. An official of Trump's transition confirmed the lawyer's internal order, which was sent Thursday. The official demanded anonymity because the official was not authorized to be named discussing the deliberations.

The most explosive was a June 14 report in The Post that Mueller's probe "now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice".

Rosenstein submitted a widely circulated memo to the president last month raising concerns over Comey's performance, but Trump later asserted that he had already made the decision himself to fire Comey.

"Failure to follow these protocols could result in criminal or civil penalties, and could form the basis of legal claims, legal presumptions, or jury instructions relating to spoliation of evidence", the memo warns former Trump transition team members.

President Donald Trump met with Bob Mueller the day before he was announced as special counsel to oversee the investigation into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Principal Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Thursday.

Trump is accused of firing FBI director James Comey over his refusal to steer the Russian Federation investigation away from former national security adviser and Trump ally Mike Flynn.

Trump also attacked the media Friday morning. The transition, a nonprofit structurally separate from the Trump campaign, continues to operate with a small staff.

Recent news reports have suggested Trump sought all three officials' help in pressuring FBI Director James Comey to drop his investigation into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn. Last week, former FBI Director James Comey told Congress he believes he was sacked by Mr Trump to undermine the agency's Russian Federation probe.

This is what he said in May.

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?" he asked.

An hour later he wrote: "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!"
