Altidore in trouble with girlfriend after defender tweaks his nipple

Arena Makes Six Changes To Gold Cup Roster

The veteran platoon - forwards Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey, midfielders Darlington Nagbe and Michael Bradley plus Tim Howard and young Mexican-American goalie Jesse Hernandez - has 503 caps and 111 worldwide goals between them, none too shabby a second wave. "Just move on from it, learn from it, and get ready for the next game". DeAndre Yedlin has the starting right back spot nailed down for the U.S., but the backup position is wide open.

Costa Rica defeated Panama 1-0 earlier off of an Anibal Godoy own goal and the two CONCACAF superpowers will face off in the Semifinal this Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.

Before the spotlight heads south, here are three pieces of analysis from Wednesday's weirdness with El Salvador in The City of Brotherly Love.

Gyasi Zardes had a goal called off in the first half for offside, with replays indicating that call was incorrect.

The defense, however, didn't have the "replacement players" excuse: they have all been here since the beginning of the tournament.

As a fringe member senior team, Lichaj is one of the players with the most to gain on this Gold Cup roster, and so far he's been a mixed bag. Defenders provided both goals in the victory over El Salvador.

Justin Morrow was chosen by Arena ahead of Jorge VillafaƱa at left-back. Bruce Arena may look to freshen up the back line in the semi-final against Costa Rica.

GK TIM HOWARD, 7: Bailed out Eric Lichaj's early blunder with a clutch charge.

Late in the first half, Omar Gonzalez put the USA on the board with a brilliant header off a set piece. Romero probably earned 6 yellow cards in the match yet ended the game still on the field having only been booked once.

He clutched his shoulder before saying after the game: 'I was a bit shocked'.

Eric Lichaj scored his first goal for the US, but the goal doesn't forgive his deficiencies on the back line.

The goal felt like a fine moment of personal redemption for Lichaj who was indeed fortunate to not be the sad clown of the first forty-five. The ball was worked through midfield and eventually to Clint Dempsey on the left side. It's quite interesting what motivation can do on the pitch, especially when it comes from a desire to rescue one's pride.

Lichaj said after the match that he might have taken the opponent for granted. With Graham Zusi failing to convince defensively, Lichaj has put himself in a very strong position.

But the USMNT finally got on the board in the 41st minute courtesy of a Bradley assist to Omar Gonzalez.

El Salvador's Henry Romero did his best Luis Suarez impression in the second half.

Altidore also said: "It's never happened before, but in CONCACAF, it never ceases to amaze me".
