Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Prefers Liverpool Move Despite Chelsea Bid
Aug 30 2017
Chelsea have reportedly agreed a fee with Arsenal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Stuart Pearce told talkSPORT the 24-year-old should leave north London for the sake of his career.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and has attracted interested from Chelsea and Liverpool. The former Southampton youngster is by no means a key player like Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil, but his ability to cover so many positions is hard to find - especially in such a short timeframe.
The England global only had a year left on his contract with Arsenal, and will undoubtedly add depth to the already intimidating Chelsea squad as they look to challenge in the Premier League and the Champions League.
According to the Times on Tuesday, Liverpool are still very much in the race to sign the Arsenal star.
During Chelsea's stunning semi-final defeat of Barcelona, Oxlade-Chamberlain showed his love for Fernando Torres after the Spaniard's crucial goal in the 88th minute.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is hoping a versatile player will challenge Victor Moses at right wing-back and bolster his midfield options for the defence of their Premier League title and their Champions League campaign.
However, Henry has claimed that it seems clear to him that Sanchez does not look like a player who wants to stay at The Emirates.
Believing Suarez's release clause was £40million; the Gunners tabled a cheeky offer of £40m plus £1 in a move that infuriated Liverpool.
It was reported in England on Monday that Conte's side have agreed a fee with the Gunners said to be in the region of £35million.
