Ms. Schumer will star in "Meteor Shower", about a wild night of comedic jousting between two couples who get together for an evening of stargazing in an Ojai, California backyard in 1993.
Meteor Shower will also mark Key's first Broadway production, after previously taking to the stage in the Off-Broadway rendition of Hamlet.
As previously speculated, Tony nominee Steve Martin's new comedy, Meteor Shower, will premiere on the Great White Way in a production starring Emmy victor Amy Schumer in her Broadway debut! Schumer will play one half of one couple alongside Alan Tudyk, and the other couple will be played by Tony victor Laura Benanti (Gypsy) and Keegan-Michael Key of "Key and Peele".
"Celebrating the news, Amy took to Twitter on Monday (07Aug17) and announced: "@stevemartintogo wrote a hilarious play @MeteorShowerBwy & I get to do it w/ (with) @KeeganMKey @LauraBenanti @AlanTudyk".
Under the esteemed direction of Jerry Zaks, who was most recently at the helm of the "Hello, Dolly!" revival, "Meteor Shower" will bow on Broadway at the Booth Theater, with previews beginning November 1 and an opening night set for November 29.
Meteor Shower begins previews on November 1, and will open on November 29. This is Martin's second Broadway production, his first being 2014's bluegrass musical Bright Star.
