"This Arsenal midfielder" is of course Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who's been one of the handful of names linked fairly often with Chelsea over the last couple weeks.
Arsenal are keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but with just one year remaining on his current deal, and the Gunners being reluctant to meet his wage demands, they could be forced to cash in or face losing him for nothing next summer.
Chelsea have been encouraged by his contract situation at Arsenal and are ready for a £25m swoop.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger however lavished praise on the 23-year-old in his press conference on Wednesday.
Having seen a £25 million offer turned down by Arsenal, Chelsea have come in with a £35 million bid, according to the Daily Star and the Daily Mirror.
The Blues have launched a £35m bid to get him, and Oxlade-Chamberlain is interested in making the move.
The report states that the England global is attracted by the suggestion of a Stamford Bridge move as it appears as though he will receive a higher wage in addition to playing in the Champions League.
"I think he's had in his career some bad moments, ' said Wenger". He will continute to move up beecause the potential is there.
Arsene Wenger has insisted he wants Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay, but if Arsenal can agree a new contract with the player or not remains to be seen.
"Personally, I think he is a hugely talented player".
'He is today very conscious of his qualities as well, which he was not always, and I personally believe he will be a very great player'.
