BYU moves up in best colleges rankings

U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of college rankings on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and Kentucky Wesleyan College's appearance on two lists includes a No. 8 ranking in the South as a Best Regional College, a jump of five places over last year's ranking of No. 13. Luzerne County oldest college and newest university is in a six-way tie for 41 place with 63 overall points.

Furman also was listed in "A+ Schools for B Students" and the list of colleges that "Focus on Student Success" in the category of undergraduate research/creative projects.

The Nebraska College of Business, which recently moved into the new $84 million Howard L. Hawks Hall, moved up three spots in this year's undergraduate business school rankings to No. 45.

MONEY Magazine, which released its rankings in July, placed the college 14th among all public colleges and universities in the nation, and 24th overall. Such universities often offer free or discounted tuition to students considered residents of the state.

Now, it's earned the college recognition as a "most innovative school".

Baylor is rated No. 62 in the U.S. News High School Counselor Rankings. The website boasts "nearly 50 different types of numerical rankings and lists to help students narrow their college search". UMPI came in at #3, its highest showing on this list to date. According to U.S. News, the rankings are determined by first dividing colleges into categories and collecting data from the college on as many as 15 indicators of academic excellence. Student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate are also factors taken into consideration.

"As a top-ranked public research university, UCLA embraces our academic mission as well as our responsibility to reflect the ethnic and economic diversity of California, which is why we strive to perform well across a variety of rankings, including those that measure best-value, socioeconomic diversity and research competence", Block said. U.S. News & World Report's own Best Global Universities list ranks the Westwood school 10th. That's up five spots from previous year in the overall rankings and two spots among public universities.

Princeton University and Harvard University retained their No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. The value of Howard University's contribution to the nation and the world is evident in the many stellar alumni of the institution who are in leadership roles throughout the world.
