Effingham County schools to close for Irma

Lee schools closed through Friday

Richland County offices will be closed Monday.

The school will not accept animals, Richland County officials said Friday. The school district also advised everyone to make plans and complete preparations early.

Following Gov. Henry McMaster's press conference Friday afternoon regarding Hurricane Irma, the Horry County School District said it will provide an update to school schedules on Sunday afternoon by 5 p.m.

Lee County schools wills be closed through Thursday.

This decision is being made in an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, parents and staff as SC prepares for the impacts of Hurricane Irma.

University of North Florida officials are monitoring Hurricane Irma and facilities maintenance crews are working to ensure the campus is ready for the storm.

"The campus is being fully prepared around the clock in the event of inclement weather from Irma. Students, faculty and staff should monitor our Weather Readiness page at, and check their email inboxes and our main Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates".

Limestone College's extended campus locations will be closed on Monday, according to a release from the school.

Scott has said more volunteers will be needed and registration can be done HERE.

Edward Waters College staff said the school is monitoring and preparing for Hurricane Irma.

The University of Central Florida was also looking at a number of possibilities on Tuesday. No decision has been made yet on public schools. All scheduled programs, activities and events are canceled.

The Wakulla County School District will be closed through Wednesday, 9/13.
