Witnesses report four shots being fired

One student is dead and three others are injured after a school shooting near Spokane, Washington, police said.

Sacred Heart Hospital confirmed three victims are in stable condition following the shooting.

Their injuries are not known.

Freeman High School serves more than 300 students in the small community of Rockford.

Spokane Public Schools said on Twitter that all schools in the district are "are in full lockdown as a precautionary measure".

Fire officials in Washington state say people have been injured and taken to a hospital after a shooting at a high school.

A shooting was reported at the school around 10:20 a.m.

Schaeffer said the "threat from the shooter has been eliminated".

According to Great Schools, there are 327 students enrolled at Freeman.

All Spokane South Hill schools are in lockdown as a precaution. The Spokane Sheriff's Office is expected to provide more information at a news conference sometime on Wednesday afternoon.

"It's been fantastic, within probably 15-20 minutes of hearing about it, I'd already received a phone call, I'd already received a text message saying that their school is OK", she said.

An automated warning that was reportedly repeating on law enforcement radio channels said, "Freeman High School".
