Isaiah Thomas excited to play alongside LeBron James

While introducing their acquisitions from the summer's blockbuster trade, the Cleveland Cavaliers were reluctant to discuss Isaiah Thomas' health during a news conference Thursday.

Thomas unveiled his feelings about the trade the previous day in the Player's Tribune, so the presser's focus turned quickly to the hip injury that will sideline the two-time All-Star for the start of the season. Boston ultimately agreed to send Cleveland an additional draft pick - the Miami Heat's 2020 second-rounder - to complete the swap. Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue later confirmed, Thomas won't be ready for Cleveland's regular season opener against the Boston Celtics.

You are not going to want to mess with the Cavs this year, ' promises Isaiah Thomas.

By trading Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics, the Cavaliers received a prolific scorer in Isaiah Thomas, a defensive expert in Jae Crowder, a true center in Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round pick, which is considered their most valuable acquisition.

Crowder described the scene during an introductory press conference in Cleveland.

The 34-year old would not address whether or not he and his staff had a planned return date for Thomas, veiling the information or lack thereof under the idea of placing undue pressure on the point guard. "I.T., everybody in Boston is grateful for I.T. and all that he's done".

Kyrie Irving didn't want to play with LeBron James anymore.

"And that's just LeBron", continued Thomas, who averaged a career-high 28.9 points a game last season.

"When it comes to basketball, there's no pressure", Thomas said. To say that Thomas, who has emerged as one of the league's premier scoring guards, may be a little shaken by the recent events is an understatement. "The good thing about the whole ordeal was I was able to whisper it to my mom before she passed".

Like Thomas, Crowder said being traded was hard and made more so that when the deal was first announced on August 22, he was with his ailing mother in Atlanta.

"Tom Brady isn't sending a text like that to guys who played in Boston for only two and a half years - unless they did something very special". I'm blessed to be traded to a situation where we could win a championship next year.

Thomas was bullish about the Cavs' potential this upcoming season.
