In yet another incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers along the International Border, one constable of the Border Security Force (BSF) was killed in Arnia sub-sector of RS Pura in Jammu district in the wee hours of Friday.
They said that a bullet hit Bahadur on the left side of his abdomen and succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
A civilian was also injured in Pakistani troops firing, a police official said.
"BSF troops retaliated strongly and gave befitting reply", he said. The soldier who died was identified as Captain Brijendra Bahadur Singh.
This is the fifth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in six days, according to PTI. The firing, he was told, took place in Phulian sector on the Pakistani side of the de facto border and that also three persons including a woman were injured.
Pakistani troops have been continuously violating the ceasefire along the IB for the past four months. "An innocent citizen Muhammad Zahoor resident of village Dewra embraced Shahadat (martyrdom) due to Indian unprovoked firing", the Pakistan Army said on September 13.
