Brother of Las Vegas shooter suspected of child porn possession

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the October 1 shooting

The brother of the man behind the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history has been arrested on suspicion of having child pornography, police said today.

According to TMZ, Bruce Paddock was arrested and taken into custody early Wednesday at an assisted living home in North Hollywood, California.

TMZ was the first to report the arrest, adding that Bruce Paddock had child porn on his computer.

This is a developing story.

A criminal complaint filed in Los Angeles County lists 20 potential counts and indicates the alleged crimes, including possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child, occurred in 2014.

It's unclear whether Bruce Paddock has obtained a lawyer.

Authorities were unable to locate Paddock during the initial investigation.

Paddock - who left no writings or other evidence about his planned massacre - is not the first mass killer to destroy or hide digital clues, ABC News reported.

After the attack, Bruce Paddock told NBC News he was questioned about the shooting twice by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

It wasn't immediately known if Bruce Paddock has an attorney.

The child porn case predated the October 1 shooting, said the law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity. "Paddock had been squatting inside the business and after his eviction, the evidence was discovered". He said he had been questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his brother.
