MRI on Warriors forward Green's knee negative

Why an unheralded rookie could make the Warriors even better

Coach Steve Kerr said Wednesday (via CSN Bay Area) that Green, who didn't practice, wouldn't return to the Warriors lineup until he's able, though Kerr sounded optimistic about Green's chances of playing this weekend.

The Rockets offense remains vital against the Warriors. "When I say we're not in great shape, I can't come in here today and run them because they're exhausted from last night". "Well, obviously (the Warriors) don't take it seriously either". The good game of the Rockets led them to win their first game of the National Basketball Association regular season.

"We looked exhausted", Kerr said. "I think both teams take it seriously. We were able to do both".

Draymond Green exited the Warriors' season opener with a strained left knee.

Of course, D'Antoni's team benefited from the Warriors failing to finish the game with their top two defensive players.

NEW ORLEANS - Warriors forward Draymond Green is doubtful for Friday night's game against the Pelicans after an MRI on his left knee revealed no structural damage, a team spokesman confirmed.

In 28 minutes of action, Green recorded nine points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds for the Warriors on Tuesday. A former second-round pick out of Michigan State, he averaged 10.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in 2016-17 to help the Warriors win their second title in three years. Defensively, if we want to get where we want to go, we have to get stops.

Afterward, he told reporters, "I'll be good".
