Wind chill temperatures on Thursday Nov. 9 2017

Storm Team 4 says glacial temperatures Saturday morning will likely break an 84-year-old record low of 28 degrees set in Central Park back in 1933.

Boston isn't the only part of the country experiencing cold, according to the weather service.

Temperatures fell all the way down to 18° Saturday morning, setting a new Veterans Day record low.

"These systems are pretty rare, but when you've got a large air mass coming down directly from the North Pole, we end up with classic mid-January weather", Simpson said.

Saturday: Mostly sunny to start, with increasing afternoon clouds.

The arctic system will linger throughout the week and temperatures will gradually increase as it dissipates, according to Simpson.

Temperatures are expected to warm back up over the next several days with mornings warming into the 20s Sunday and 30s Monday through the week onward according to Jon Burnett's 7-day forecast. Sunday was expected to be more seasonal, with high close to 50 degrees.

The deep freeze hit the Big Apple Friday night as the temperature bottomed out at a record-low 26 degrees.

Temperatures will remain consistent through Tuesday and Wednesday as both have a high of 46 degrees with a high of 46 degrees.
