Clippers F Griffin out two months

0:49Play LA Clippers forward Blake Griffin injures his left knee against the Los Angeles Lakers

Griffin (knee) will undergo tests on to determine the extent of his injury on Tuesday, with early fears being a sprained MCL, Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.

He had just nine rebounds and just nine points, with five turnovers and four fouls.

"It didn't look good", Rivers said. The team was already missing three star players - Patrick Beverley, Danilo Gallinari and Milos Teodosic - before Griffin was injured. They're now barely more than $100,000 below the tax, meaning adding a 15th player for the remainder of the season would take the Clippers over the tax line. Because of Griffin's low durability he's failed to play over 67 games since the 2013-14 season.

The Lakers got solid play from their bench as Jordan Clarkson scored 17 points and Kyle Kuzma added 15.

"We just had to continue to push", Williams said. Griffin got up, but soon left the game.

"There was some miscommunication, and (Williams) got hot from three", Ball said of the difference between the teams late in the game. So Rivers has made his son Austin the point guard alongside Lou Williams - the backup backcourt at the start of the season. While there were a few players on the Lakers that performed well offensively, it was hard to find many that played well defensively in this game.

NOTES: Lakers rookie F Kyle Kuzma, the team's leading scorer at 16.8 points per game, returned to a reserve role with Larry Nance Jr. returning from a broken bone in his left hand. Against the Lakers, Griffin totaled 26 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.

After starting the 2017-18 season a surprising 4-0 without All-Star guard Chris Paul, traded to the Houston Rockets over the summer, LA is now 8-11 and a half-game out of a playoff spot.
