Modi Flags Off “Run For Unity” To Commemorate Sardar Patel Anniversary

While focusing on the Sardar vallabh Bahi Patel's significant contribution during freedom movement and building of new India after independence, Jai Kumar everybody should work for the national unity and integrity of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the Run For Unity in New Delhi to mark the 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Rajnath Singh, minister of state for youth affairs and sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore flagging off the Run For Unity from the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

A large number of people, including sports personalities like Sardar Singh, Deepa Karmakar, Suresh Raina and Karnam Malleswari participated in the Run.

A day after his tweets created havoc on social media, he clarified his stance by saying, "When I tweet abt Gandhiji, Sardar Patel and Nehru, I discuss history, not politics".

The Opposition party's criticism came on a day the government marked Patel's birth anniversary with fanfare.

Mr Modi said India will be always proud of Sardar Patel's contributions and it would also continue to inspire thousands of countrymen to serve the country.

Agriculture Minister said, on this occasion, let us make a pledge to once again dedicate ourselves to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation and make collective efforts to make our country stronger and vibrant. "We see the tricolor across the length and breadth of the nation, and the credit for this goes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel". "Vallabhbhai Patel united the country, he didn't interfere with or was not allowed to interfere with only one state and that was Jammu and Kashmir", the Tripura governor said, adding that the state's condition has been noticed by everyone since last 70 years.
