Small Business Saturday seeks to lure local shoppers with holiday deals

Womply's new analysis found North Dakota retailers had one of their best days of business a year ago on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, with revenue at 217 percent of normal daily revenue.
According to the American Independent Business Alliance, independent retailers contribute more than three times the money to the local economy as box stores. Now entering its eighth year, the day is embraced by independent merchants of all kinds-from traditional brick and mortar retailers to service providers to e-commerce businesses. Revenue was 144 percent of normal on December 23, the day before Christmas Eve. Main streets across Pennsylvania are preparing for Small Business Saturday.
Results from the 2017 Small Business SaturdayConsumer Insights Survey, released this week by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) and American Express, show six in ten US consumers are aware of Small Business Saturday going into the day, and of those, 82 percent plan to shop at a small, independently-owned retailer or dine at a small, independently-owned restaurant on the day. Only Alaska (130 percent) and Maryland (117 percent) had a bigger increase on the date.
This year marks the eighth Small Business Saturday, an annual celebration of America's small business community.
According to the Small Business Administration, approximately 2.6 million small businesses operate across the state of Texas and make up more than 90% of all the business in the state. "While the chamber's mission is to advocate for an environment in which our businesses can prosper, our outcomes are building healthy businesses and healthy communities and small businesses help us create those outcomes". Everyone wants businesses to grow and for people to be employed. "We always serve little snacks".
"Visitors to my store get a very personal experience", said Goldthwait. We get to know them. The day is created to help support independently owned businesses. "I urge both residents and visitors to make every attempt to support West Haven's small businesses on November 25". About half of all American workers are either employed by a small business or own a small business.
Cathy Toot recently opened a new art gallery and studio in Ennis and said being able to connect with her shoppers and artists on a personal level is something she cherishes.
Live Local Fallon's grand prize drawing is also another reason why this year's event will attract a large turnout; the organization encourages locals to shop at Fallon-grown businesses with raffle.
