Trump Makes World's Dumbest Feud Even Dumber

Trump, in Twitter rant, revisits grievances against sports figures

LaVar's son LiAngelo Ball, along with two other UCLA basketball teammates, was arrested for shoplifting sunglasses in a Louis Vuitton store in China but were released by Chinese officials. "Let's just stay in our lane", said Ball during a weird 22-minute exchange with CNN's Chris Cuomo opposite "Monday Night Football". The trio faced a possible ten-year sentence.

Donald Trump's former ghostwriter Tony Schwartz has dissected the president's attack on the father of a college basketball player. "It wasn't like he was in the USA and said, 'OK, there's three kids in China".

Questioned by Cuomo, Ball claimed there "were others on the ground" responsible for bringing his son home. "Just think.", Trump tweeted, referring to the American boxing promoter.

"It is amusing to think "poor LaVar" in this sense, but what Trump is doing here is not a bad thing for him; it doesn't hurt to have Trump against you", said Dr. Daniel Durbin, head of the USC Annenberg Institute of Sports, Media & Society School for Communication and Journalism who specializes in branding, popular culture, rhetoric and sports.

"A billion dollars, it has to be there", Ball told USA Today in the spring.

It's been reported that Ball received $13.2 million in free TV and digital advertising for Big Baller Brand since the feud kicked off on November 17. But Ball seemed to leave the door open if Trump would shake his hand. More recently, the president has been fiercely critical of black athletes protesting the "Star Spangled-Banner" as a demonstration against white supremacy in the U.S. On the other hand, Schwartz said, "if [Trump] felt fear, he always felt aggression", which Schwartz uses to explain why Trump also felt "a need to put them down". I don't know. If I was going to thank somebody, I probably would thank President Xi. "If exposure is half the problem, then I think it's got to help".

Since the feud, Ball has been the subject of jokes on NBC's famed comedy show "Saturday Night Live".

"You get that audience, which isn't a bunch of deplorables and won't be bothered by what he says", Durbin said. Are you Trump's brother? You'll find economists and analysts who can back that up.

In addition to a distinguished career which has included roles on such series as "Boston Public", where he played teacher Danny Hanson, Rapaport has become increasingly known as an internet bomb-thrower. But you buffered it up like you said that you don't want to say thank you to nobody. And you don't even have to give it to me all up front. He went on to call Ball an "ungrateful fool". LaVar, you could have spent the next 5 to 10 years during Thanksgiving with your son in China, but no National Basketball Association contract to support you.

Big Ball Brand was founded by LaVar Ball in 2016. "It's a really big deal, especially in China", he added.
