DEVELOPING Police responding to shooting at Aztec High School

Authorities say a shooter is down and at least two more people have been shot at a high school in northwestern New Mexico.

KOB-TV reported that the alleged shooter is also dead, but said it was unclear whether the shooter was included in the reported fatalities.

San Juan Sheriff's Office Capt. Brice Current said the families of the shooting victims have been notified.

There were no other injuries reported, state police said.

Per the statement, the school will be placed on lockdown for roughly "three to four hours". "Please avoid the area".

The shooting took place at Aztec High School in Aztec, about 180 miles northwest of Albuquerque.

The police department in nearby Bloomfield locked down school buildings as a precaution, according to the department's Facebook page.
