The weather service's local station in Pleasant Hill expects temperatures to continue to climb with highs of 63 degrees on Sunday and 64 degrees on Monday. At that point it looks like we could have a few days with high temperatures only in the teens next week.
Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after noon.
Tuesday night: Occasional rain and snow showers before 10 p.m., then occasional rain showers. "Conditions will be cold enough for any showers to fall as snow or hail in many places".
Friday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of 54 and an overnight low of 31.
"Through mid-December and potentially right up to the winter solstice (on Dec. 21), residents across the eastern US will have to contend with the cold weather", he said.
However, the winds will switch round from the south-west to north-west dropping the temperature down to a chilly 4degC and a wind chill as low as minus 4degC. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Colder air will move into the area on Wednesday with a few glimpses of sunshine during the afternoon.
Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 40s to near 50. The strongest wind gusts will be first thing in the morning, although it'll remain windy all day with the south wind shifting to the southwest behind the front.

Sunny and cool weather sticks around through the upcoming weekend with another possible freeze to start the morning on Sunday. Highest temperatures of just 3 to 6 degrees with moderate to fresh north to northwest winds.
"By Friday the United Kingdom will be in an Arctic Maritime air mass with temperatures across the country staying in low single figures by day and below freezing by night".
