Dana White: I Have A Meeting With Floyd Mayweather's Team

Noah K. Murray for USA TODAY Sports

Back in August, Mayweather briefly came out of retirement to secure a tenth round stoppage over UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, in a boxing match, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

To that, Dana White says hold your horses.

If you thought, or were hoping...that all the talk about Floyd Mayweather fighting under the UFC banner was wrapped up, well, it looks like that's not the case.

"I don't know, man, White recently told ESPN's Brett Okamoto". "There is no status", he said "I knew what he was doing. I actually have a meeting with those guys today - with (Floyd's) crew".

White stated that he does not believe Mayweather is truly retired from boxing or potentially the UFC, adding, "He will fight again".

During the build-up to the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight Mayweather teased several times that he'd fight in the UFC next, and the Irishman welcomed that opportunity with open arms.

What are your thoughts on White saying that he's meeting with Floyd Mayweather's team later on today?

At this time, White said there is no update on his next move. Do you think that a deal could be reached to put Mayweather inside the Octagon for a fight?

As far as Mayweather, most believe the very idea of the undefeated boxer, at 40 years old and having zero MMA experience, making the jump to the UFC - as a fighter - is not very realistic and not likely to ever happen.

He insists there's only one fight for McGregor next, a defence of his lightweight belt. No matter how much money you make, I always feel like with certain people you can only go on so many vacations, there's only so much stuff you can buy and then you're ready to get back to the grind, hopefully'.
