FD: At least 10 people displaced following apartment fire in Phoenix

54 people lost their homes to fire on Christmas Eve

When they arrived, crews found a home with heavy flames coming through windows and climbing up to the eves. It was quickly brought under control by fire crews and damage to the home was averted.

Fire officials were investigating whether a Christmas tree was to blame for the fire at the Irving house.

The blaze was extinguished by 7:04 a.m., fire officials said.

The holidays tend to be a busy time of year for firefighters, Dennis said, because people are dealing with extra lights and candles in their homes.

Pembroke Fire, Fort Campbell Fire and Oak Grove Fire departments all responded. Walsh said three people were injured, with two refusing transport and a third transported to a hospital in good condition.

The fire was under investigation Monday, although investigators believe it may have been accidental, Franklin said.

The fire was contained to the apartment, but both the apartment and bar were damaged, Winistorfer said.

No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting the families displaced on Christmas Day.
