Nintendo Confirms Super Mario Cereal Is Coming to the US

Report: Nintendo to start offering in-game power-ups via cereal boxes

Here is part of the statement released by Nintendo: With Super MarioCereal, Nintendo and Kellogg's® have teamed up to take fans on a breakfast odyssey that will continue long after the cereal box is empty.

Although the product has not been officially unveiled by Nintendo, the U.K. Kellogg's Twitter account confirmed the cereal is certainly real. No word yet on whether or not it works in other games, or whether we'll eventually get a Mystery Mushroom costume for Super Mario Maker that's a literal box.

Back in the '80s, when Nintendo's moustachioed mascot's face was plastered everywhere you looked, Nintendo released a cereal call Nintendo Cereal System.

After leaking multiple times this week, Nintendo has finally lifted the lid on the Super Mario cereal. The box (and perhaps the cereal too) will have a limited run.

"We cerealously appreciate your continued interest in seeing a Nintendo cereal", Kellogg's told one Cerealousy reader. The limited edition cereal will be of a mixed berry flavor and contain colorful power-up marshmallows.

The Super Mario Cereal is now only planned to release in the United States for a limited time starting on December 11 at various retailers.

Earlier this year, the gaming giant worked with Post Consumer Brands on a cereal promotion where fans would stand a chance to win one of 500 Nintendo Switch prize pack by entering codes found on specially marked packages.

Super Mario Odyssey is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch console.
