UP Civic polls: Police lathi charged in Muzaffarnagar

Winner Candidates: -On the Uttar Pradesh civic poll result which is all set to announce seems like the early gains for BJP aka Bharatiya Janata Party government. Describing the outcome as a "historic win", he attributed the victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and BJP chief Amit Shah's able guidance.
UP Nagar Nigam Chunav 2017, are having some candidates who are contesting and win, they all will be recognized as the parshad of their area.
The BJP leader also termed as "baseless" the Congress vice-president's charge that the BJP-led Gujarat government extended undue favours of Rs 33,000 crore to Tata Motors for auto manufacturing facility at Sanand. Voting for the 16 mayor posts and 1,300 municipal corporation wards was done through EVMs while ballot papers were used in the Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayat elections, the State Election Commission confirmed.
Among the 5,433 seats of nagar panchayats members, Independents have won 3,875 seats - 71.31 per cent of the total seats.
As per the PTI report, BJP's mayor candidates were leading in some of the cities like Saharanpur, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Gorakhpur, the initial trends suggest. BJP won only 664 seats with a win percentage of 12.22 per cent.
Asked about the performance of Independent candidates, BJP state spokesperson Chandra Mohan said the party had not fielded candidates on several seats. While SP won 477 wards, BSP emerged victorious in 262 and Congress in 158.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the results reaffirmed people's support for the GST which has made doing business "easier" for traders.
He also targeted Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi saying he could not save his seat in Amethi.
"I am going to Gujarat today with a positive message from UP", the deputy CM said.
