Barcelona unveil Brazil midfielder, Coutinho at Nou Camp

Philippe Coutinho messaged Brendan Rodgers after moving to Barcelona

The 25-year-old, who will finalise a move to the LaLiga leaders on Monday for a reported fee of €160million, has not played since December due to a muscle complaint.

He will then meet some of his new team-mates before finally signing a five-and-a-half-year contract, alongside club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"Liverpool FC can confirm Philippe Coutinho will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona, subject to medical and agreement of personal terms".

Ivan Rakitic could be facing a move away from Barcelona in the wake of the £145million purchase of Philippe Coutinho, according to reports.

He has a minor thigh injury and missed the club's past two games, including Friday's FA Cup third-round win against Everton.

"[Coutinho] is a player that Barcelona have been trying to bring here since last summer", Bartomeu told the gathered media at the Camp Nou moments after the Brazilian had signed his contract.

Quizzed on where the Brazil global would play regularly, he added: 'We will wait until I have seen him train for a day at least until we talk about that'. "It's about the chance to play for Barcelona, to live in Barcelona".

In five seasons at Anfield, where he played alongside future Barca teammate Luis Suarez, he has made 201 appearances and scored 54 goals, becoming a key part of Jurgen Klopp's team. He writes to me a lot, he's a close friend and has been a big help.

Coutinho had earlier met Gerard Pique and Paulinho on his first full day at the club.
