LaVar Ball Torched Luke Walton For Having 'No Control' Over The Lakers

Everyone can hate it all they want but LaVar Ball has proven himself to be newsworthy - if he weren't, Carlisle wouldn't be bothering to talk about him.

To hear LaVar tell it, there are a few moves they need to make to ensure a championship.

Lakers executives met with LaVar Ball on November 29 to ask him to tone down comments he had made questioning Walton's rotations and overall usage of his son, the No. 2 pick in June's draft.

"I don't think so", Ball responded following Sunday morning shootaround when asked point blank if he thought Walton had lost the locker room. "Luke Walton is a terrific young coach who is bringing along a young team". If he's ready to play, let him play.

He clarified what he meant by ESPN's role in backing up the coaches meant.

"I don't see that our players aren't playing hard", Walton responded to Ball's father's comments.

Carlisle said he was making the comments as president of the coach's association when he called the report "a disgrace" and labeled Ball, the father of Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, a "blowhard loudmouth" with "ignorant" opinions.

"I feel very secure in my job status right now", he said. It's a hard task and if you don't believe it just ask me ...

LaVar Ball has consistently violated his pre-draft vow to Magic Johnson that he would not meddle with the team if they picked Lonzo, and that he was playing a character he could flip on and off like a light switch. Walton was in good spirits, shooting around after the walk-through with Ball, Kyle Kuzma and assistant coach Brian Shaw. So, he is definitely going to have a strong opinion about it. "They're giving us what they have and we're going to keep working and we'll be fine". I don't know what they're doing. The Lakers still have not recovered from that brutal stretch, as the team has lost 11 of its last 12 games and has fallen from being an outside contender for the playoffs to the worst record in the Western Conference. "What I love about [Johnson] is just the communication that we have as a family and as friends to fix the situation they're just solutions that we throw off each other".

Carlisle said Walton has the support of the association. I tell him to go get the victory. Only one way, to say every team I've gone to I've won a championship. "Whatever those meetings [with LaVar Ball in the past] are, I'm not concerned with those".
