Conversely, Airtels recent plans included Rs. 149 prepaid plan that has been revised in fewer circles. The Airtel's Rs. 349 plan has a validity of just 28 days but offers 2.5GB of data per day, unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day.

Jio also mentioned in a statement that the upgrades are as a response to Airtel's tariff charges. Under this segment, the costliest plan costs Rs. 449 and comes with 91 days validity with 136GB data.

Under the Republic Day offer, Jio's all existing 1GB per day packs will be increased to 1.5GB per day, while 1.5GB per day packs are now enhanced to 2GB per day. Rest of the benefits of the plans remain same.

All these plans - 199, 448 & 509 prepaid plan of Airtel offers Unlimited calls. After hitting the limit, Airtel-to-Airtel calls will be charged at 10 paise per minute, whereas calls to other operators will be charged at 30 paise per minute. Quite, all Jio clients get free boundless voice calls, SMS and access to Jio's suite of applications.

Clearly, if we look at the plans, Airtel is offering a tough fight to Jio.

Shares of Airtel declined as much as 6.22 per cent to 461.5 rupees on Wednesday, their lowest since October 18, 2017. Airtel, on the other hand, offers 1GB daily data, and validity of 84 days, up from 70 days that it used to offer before. Previously, the plan offered 1GB daily data.

In the plans that will be changed under its Republic Day offer, Reliance Jio offers unlimited 4G data usage with a daily FUP limit, after which internet speeds are throttled at 64kbps.

To sum up, the new 1.5GB data per day plans are available in the following denominations - Rs 149, Rs 349, Rs 399 and Rs 449.

Under revised offer, users opting for Rs 199 plan, will now get a total of 39.2GB data, against 28GB that was offered earlier. Rest of the benefits are same to all unlimited plans of Airtel. But if you avail the Republic Day offer, the daily limit is bumped up to 1.5GB per day. Subscribers of both telecom operators will be get added data benefits under the new plans.
