Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Waterloo Region that will be followed by snow later Sunday.

According to the weather agency, the snow will begin falling later this morning or early this afternoon and will persist into the evening. "A brief period of snow may precede the freezing rain but any snowfall accumulations are expected to be minimal".

Hamilton just keeps getting battered by winter, with the city now under a freezing rain warning.

Another round of snow will develop overnight as well.

Parts of Quebec, including Montreal, are in for several hours of freezing rain, making travel hard and unsafe.

Nonetheless, Environment Canada's statement warns of icy conditions outdoors throughout the day, and advises drivers to slow down when on the road in slippery conditions.

Conditions are expected to improve by Sunday evening and into the start of the work week on Monday.
