Police say a 2-year-old Akron girl has died after her mother found her outside in the cold on the family's front porch Friday afternoon.
Wynter Parker's mother made a desperate call to OH police on Friday afternoon telling them that her child had been found frozen on the porch.
The Akron mother immediately called 911 and told the dispatcher, "she's frozen!"
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office identified the young girl as Wynter Parker and will conduct an autopsy Monday to determine her cause of death. Temperatures in Akron on Friday ranged between 11 and seven degrees.
The mother left Wynter with her father for about two hours at the family's apartment and authorities said the man - who works a night shift - fell asleep.
No charges have been filed.
The dispatcher then instructed her how to perform CPR while the frantic woman screamed and asked why a rescue squad had not arrived. Wynter wandered outside in the cold, police said.
Others simply wanted to know how a 2-year-old could be missing for any length of time without her parents realizing how quiet it was.
While hospital officials refuse to discuss the specifics of Wynter's death, they offered winter-safety tips for parents. "That happens much quicker for our little ones". Police in OH are investigating the death of a toddler found "frozen" on her front porch.
Crystal Lucas, a neighbor who spoke with KTRK, said she is devastated by the news and wants to know how the toddler was left outside in the first place.
When authorities knocked on her door, Lucas says she recalls being anxious before bursting into tears. "It was a few times that I had to take both of her kids home".
"It was freezing and that was my biggest worry when the cops came, when they started asking about the kids, they didn't divulge what was really going on, but when he asked about the kids, obviously something was going on and I was anxious".
