Zlatan Ibrahimovic May Be Leaving For LA Galaxy Come 2019

Manchester United January transfer news LIVE Beckham wants Zlatan to stay at Old Trafford

LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid played down reports linking the MLS side with Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic, whose contract expires this summer, is now injured and is expected to return next month but has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.

United are unlikely to renew Ibrahimovic's contract at the end of the season and LA Galaxy is understood to be among the favourites for his signature.

Earlier it was reported that the former Sweden worldwide and captain will receive an annual salary of $7.7 million at LA Galaxy and become the highest-paid player in the MLS.

The 36-year-old is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the season and has made no secret of his desire to make his mark in the United States.

Mourinho said: "Zlatan is in past year of his contract".

In his first season at Old Trafford, he scored 17 league goals in 28 appearances, winning the Europa League, the EFL Cup, and the FA Community Shield, before sustaining serious ligament damage in his right knee, ruling him out of action for eight months. Let us know in the comments section below.

"He is working hard to be fit - I don't say injured because he is not injured (now) - but he's trying to be ready for the demands of Premier League football".

Mourinho also gave an update on midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who is free to talk to other clubs as his contract ticks down.

He said: "He's a very important player for me, he's a great professional who is giving everything he can to help the team".

"But at the moment he's a Manchester United player and I'm happy about that, and I want him to stay there".

He said: "If it's true and he wants a future at another club we are here to help".
