"Black Panther" Unstoppable, Even Against Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time"

Next weekend sees the release of Tomb Raider, which will certainly shake up the box office once again. That's just about half what the original The Strangers movie did when released by Rogue Pictures in 2008, and the sequel's "C" CinemaScore does not bode well for its future.

A Wrinkle in Time grossed $1.2 million in Thursday previews that was added into its Friday take of $10.3 million, and though it held up well for the weekend, its $33.3 million estimated gross (around $8,3k per theater) put it in second place.

The New Line comedy Game Night took fifth place with $7.9 million, down 24% in its third weekend to bring its domestic total to $45 million. The family-friendly Peter Rabbit finished in the sixth spot with $6.8 million to bring its five-week total to $93.5 million. Despite playing on 2,402 screens, Rob Cohen's 'The Hurricane Heist' was rained out with a weak $3.1 million debut ($1,311 per screen). Warner Bros.is also launching action-adventure "Tomb Raider", starring Alicia Vikander, in around 3,600 locations.
