Fox moves THE NEW MUTANTS (again!) and X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

According to the editor in chief of The Tracking Board, Jeff Sneider, both X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants have been pushed back. Fox originally moved the release to February 22, 2019, but with "Dark Phoenix" now moving to that month, "New Mutants" won't premiere until August 2, 2019.

Set in 1992, almost a decade after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, the team are considered national heroes but when a solar flare hits them during a space rescue Jean uneleases the Phoenix.

Could Fox be pushing the movies farther into the future so that they fall under the purview of Disney, should the sale of Fox to the Mouse House go through as proposed?

Fox has shuffled the release dates for a number of their upcoming films with Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury now arriving on November 2 instead of December 25. As a result, Dark Phoenix was pushed to February 2019.

The report continues to read that actor Sophie Turner, also know for playing Sansa Stark in the American fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, will now return as the younger Jean from X-Men: Apocalypse to tell a more comic book-accurate story. However, both Marvel Comics movies are getting pushed into 2019-and this news comes just a few weeks after New Mutants had already been delayed.

As for The New Mutants, it's apparently been delayed because it's not scary enough. It will now arrive on August 2, 2019.

"I do think that there is a great responsibility to make sure the movie is done right and that we deliver the fans something that they can all feel happy about and excited about", Taylor-Joy said. Thanks to additional shooting that was apparently aimed at amping up the horror-vibe that permeated its initial trailer into the film proper, and adding another character.

Finally, two more movies, The Kid Who Would be King, and The Force, will be changing release dates.
