Oscars: 'The Shape Of Water' wins Best Director, Best Picture

Sally Hawkins and Octavia Spencer in the film THE SHAPE OF WATER

Organizers are looking to rebound after last year's flubbed announcement by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway of the best picture victor - the trophy was initially given to "La La Land", when the actual victor was "Moonlight".

Rockwell dedicated his award to his late friend and fellow NY actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died in 2014.

Frances McDormand wins the best actress trophy for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. That includes the top directing awards at the Golden Globes, the Critics' Choice Awards and - perhaps most notably - the Director's Guild of Americas Awards.

Receiving the award, Del Toro said, "I want to dedicate this to the young film-makers; the youth who are showing [us] how things are done".

Then, there's "Get Out", the horror film that has earned plenty of recognition this award season and could shock the world. He spoke about The Shape of Water too and started his opening ceremony speech with a bunch of jokes. That was nothing next to the respected cameraman Roger Deakins, who finally won a cinematography Academy Award, for "Blade Runner 2049", after 13 previous nominations over 23 years. Also, "Three Billboards" has faced some backlash.

Guillermo del Toro has won the Oscar for best director for his fantastical love story The Shape of Water.

The comedian stole the show when she presented two short-film awards with Maya Rudolph, wearing the same white Alexander McQueen dress she wore hosting Saturday Night Live and during last summer's Girls Trip premiere. There are a lot of deserving films here.

Christopher Nolan's war drama Dunkirk wins two back to back awards in the categories of Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

So, the other categories I have to predict are related to writing, first up is Original Screenplay.

After last year's embarrassing best picture envelope mix-up that saw La La Land being declared victor instead of Moonlight, there were no issue with the show this time.

Who could win: Again, this is another situation where if my pick doesn't win, it will probably go to "Three Billboards". Though his name and face aren't recognized by most, the 57-year-old has 160 acting credits to his name.

Who will win: I'm extremely confident that "Call Me By Your Name" will win in this category. The tenor of the evening was upbeat while remaining grounded in serious social, cultural, and political off-screen issues, but the awards were spread with surprising evenhandedness around a strong slate of 2017 films.

Jordan Peele proved victorious when the envelope for best original screenplay was opened. Additionally, it doesn't have vast competition at the moment.

05h33: place the Oscar for best actress, which will be announced by Jodie Foster and Jennifer Lawrence. I did not see this coming. However, I see it as unlikely at this point.

Those are my final predictions.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of Oscars 2018, spoke about Black Panther and how only 11 % of the films released in Hollywood are directed by women.
