Trinamool to back Congress's Singhvi in RS polls

Alleging that fear and intimidation were the order of the day under the Modi government, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi asserted that Congress and its allies will not let Prime Minister Narendra Modi get another term in office in 2019. "There are two different things but two real things".

Kolkata: Expressing his gratitude to chief minister Mamata Banerjee for supporting him in the upcoming Rajya Sabha Elections Congress candidate for the RS polls, Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Saturday stressed on an issue-based understanding with the Trinamul Congress in view of a massive anti-BJP environment in West Bengal.

The ruling Trinamool Congress has 213 MLAs in the Bengal assembly that has 294 elected members. "A beginning has to be made". She said the leadership should not be discussed, the idea is to have a formidable alternative to bring in a change in the government at the Centre. "There should be a consensus", Patel said.

"I am very very thankful to the West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for her support to my candidature", he said. "I have invited her to a meeting called by NCP Chief Sharad Pawar in Delhi on March 27-28 to chalk out a future plan of action with various parties". "He has fought for us in many legal battles". Stating that she was not for power, nor any chair, Mamata said, "I will be helping everyone". She has called upon all regional parties to come together and defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections next year.

"The TMC is not scared of anyone".

"I do not sense any Opposition at our party-level", the Congress nominee said.
