It had previously been speculated that Paige's in-ring career was at an end due to her injuries, but Monday's announcement marks the first time that the athlete made it official with an announcement. "Love you and thank you", Mandy Rose, a member of Paige's group Absolution said. She did not partake in the women's Royal Rumble match nor the Women's Battle Royal at Wrestlemania. She went on to hold the butterfly belt on two occasions, but injuries forced her to look on from the sidelines as the company spearheaded their "Women's Revolution".
On the Raw After Mania, Paige grabbed the mic after an Absolution match and announced she is retiring.
Seeing her retire brought me to tears, especially after knowing how hard she fought to come back in November 2017.
"Be proud to be a part of this division". With Daniel Bryan's recent medical clearance after being told he'd never wrestle again, reports were that Paige was hoping for a similar outcome, but as her injury is neck-related and Bryan's was concussion-related, there's little chance of that happening. She also talked to Edge backstage, who helped her realize that there is a life outside of wrestling. Shortly afterward, Paige would go on to make her debut for the rebranded NXT where she would create history by becoming the first ever WWENXT Women's Champion. The 25-year-old wrote in a recent tweet that she is completely overwhelmed with the love and support and noted that the huge amount of encouragement that has been shown by everyone around her certainly means a lot to her.
Lashley just made his return to WWE television on Monday night so there's no telling what kind of schedule he'll be keeping once he gets things moving in his return to the promotion.
