Next Battlefield May Include A Battle Royale Mode

9 Fortnite memes that are (almost) as sweet as a Victory Royale

In those last player-standing shooters, 100 players drop onto a map and fight until only one person or team is left standing, and that game type has taken over the industry.

It's official, Battle Royale is the new zombies so expect the game mode to be appearing in everything, including Federation Internationale de Football Association, for the next few years.

As of right now, nothing has been decided and with DICE currently testing out the mode to see if it can get it into action, it is entirely possible it may never see the light of day.

The battle royale genre is about to get very crowded.

Back in March, Venturebeat reported that the next Battlefield game would be titled Battlefield V and return to a World War II setting.

Yesterday, several major gaming sites claimed that Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will contain a battle royale mode, but no singleplayer campaign.

According to the rumors, the mode will not be available in time for the game's scheduled October 2018 release and may be released separately via a title update. While MOBA's outside of Overwatch have begun to dwindle in support, the direction going forward looks to be on the Battle Royale mode. It is not a surprise to see many developers chose to work on a battle royale project, to be honest. the genre is getting bigger and bigger every day. Grubb reached out to EA for any comments on this report but they declined. EA could cancel the prototype, it could hold it off for the launch of the next Battlefield or a Star Wars: Battlefront sequel, or it could spin it out into its own game.
