Salah Prefers Champions League To Golden Boot

Mohamed Salah

Mo Salah wants to break a long standing record for the most goals scored by a Liverpool player in a single season.

Mohamed Salah is ready for the "next level" with a move to Real Madrid, according to former Egypt worldwide Ahmed Mido.

The Egyptian netted for the 40th time this season on Saturday with a delightful looped header over the goalkeeper as the Reds chalked up a comfortable 3-0 win against Bournemouth at Anfield.

Liverpool play West Brom on 21 April before hosting Roma in the Champions League semi-finals on 24 April.

If we were to take away all of Salah's goals, Liverpool would have a total of 52 points in the Premier League as opposed to the 70 points they now have.

"If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League".

Quoted by Voce Giallorossa, Grobbelaar believes this is Liverpool's year, and they will win their sixth European crown.

"It was just mature and good football".

The deserved win sees Jurgen Klopp's in-form side go three points clear of Tottenham in third place, with a very winnable Champions League semi to come.

Mido admitted that he is somewhat surprised at Salah's success at Liverpool given his past struggles at Chelsea.

The Premier League's leading scorer looped a brilliant second-half header over Asmir Begovic from Trent Alexander-Arnold's superb deep pass.

"In the end they said it's his (Kane's) goal so it's finished for me".

And Klopp said of the Egyptian: "It's all about him and all about us, how we finish the season". It's good and impressive.

'We could see how strong he was mentally with the way he handled himself when he didn't play at Chelsea'.

It was a handsome Anfield day for football and the home side echoed that, opening the scoring with Sadio Mane before Mohamed Salah's header ended any hopes of a Bournemouth revival, Roberto Firmino adding a third late on.
