Joe Burrow graduated from Ohio State on Sunday, announced his decision to transfer Tuesday, and now has been contacted to set up visits to two schools already. Burrow tweeted that he would leave the Buckeyes to "explore other options".
"I didn't come here to sit on the bench for four years, and I know I'm a pretty darn good quarterback", he told reporters in Columbus after the spring game. The Tigers went through the spring with Myles Brennan, Lowell Narcisse and Joe McMillan battling it out in competition, but all indications are that the team is not close to settling on a starting quarterback.
In Burrow, Orgeron may see a game-ready, talented transfer in the mold of Snead or Danny Etling, who provided some stability at the position the last two seasons for LSU after transferring in from Purdue. That's why Burrow is leaving to play somewhere else.
At whichever school Burrow picks, he will be immediately eligible and have two seasons of eligibility left. The Gators have famously struggled to find a star quarterback since Tim Tebow and have failed to develop blue-chip recruits like Feleipe Franks and Jeff Driskel or get anything out of transfer, Malik Zaire. "He's a loyal soldier, and I think I owe him an answer".
Burrow never started a game at Ohio State, but he was 29 of 39 for two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
