Volunteers needed to place flags on grave sites of fallen heroes

Memorial Day offers myriad of events in Fayette Coweta

The placing of the flags at gravesites is a tradition for the cemetery since opening their doors in 2012.

We are only a few days away from the national holiday that honors veterans who have died serving our country.

"We greatly appreciate the work that the Boy Scouts put into this every year and we have a lot of veterans in the town who particularly appreciate it".

The event is presented by the city of Peachtree City, in conjunction with Marine Corps League Detachment 1325, VFW Post 9949, and American Legion Post 50.

Thomas Bagley, Sea Cadet, Petty Officer 2nd Class says, "I think it's important to honor the past military members, being a sea cadet, because they're really the ones who make me want to join".

All flags are removed after Memorial Day, prior to the cemetery opening. The girls worked as a team to produce grave rubbings, while troop leaders proudly took photos of the effort to remember the special pilgrimage.

If you are interested in laying flags down on Saturday morning, you are being asked to meet at the cemetery at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The cemetery is located at 32053 W. McCabe Road, Santa Nella.

Lineup for the Memorial Day service at Pinecrest Cemetery will begin at 9 a.m. with the ceremony starting at 10 a.m. We're here, we're honoring them.
