Everything Nintendo announced during its E3 2018 Direct
Jun 13 2018
Nintendo always said that their E3 this year would be dominated by the newSmash Bros. and they weren't lying. Ultimate is being developed in a collaboration between Nintendo, Sora Ltd, and Bandai Namco Entertainment, the same development team as the last entries in the series: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. We've provided that overview for you below along with a bunch of other trailers from today's event.
Given the franchise's track record, we wouldn't be too terribly surprised to see a good handful of new characters make their eventual way into the game despite the Director's statements here.
Nintendo got to close out E3, but it's hard to say whether or not it stood up to the competition.
Lastly, it's been confirmed that Super Smash Bros. Every video game developer and publisher shows up at E3 to display their latest work, and even PlayStation, Microsoft, and Nintendo have presentations to outshine each other. In Ultimate, every single character from every game in the franchise will be present.
At the show, Nintendo will also be hosting a tournament for Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros.
We'll be getting hands-on with the game here at E3 2018, so expect to see some more robust thoughts on how the game looks and feels later on. GameCube controllers will also be supported via the USB adapter that was also found in that iteration.
Despite being announced during E3 previous year with an initial release date window of "2018", there was no mention of the game at all this time around. You'll have to wait until the second quarter of 2019 to get your hands on it but we bet its worth the while. The strategy RPG is coming to Switch for the first time ever with a three-dimensional adventure. The game takes place on Fódlan, where the Church of Seiros exercises great power over the land and its people. In case you played the game's demo on Nintendo Switch and liked what you saw, you'll be amazed to find out that another one will be added to the store soon, available on June 14th.
